What are Magickal Seals?

We recently ordered in some magickal seals here at KC.  I thought they were just darn cool, and people have been asking us how you use them.  You can find lots of them in the Anna Riva book: Secrets of Magical Seals.  Here is the scoop:

A seal is a piece of paper with symbols drawn on it and is one of several magical aids a person can use to help them in their magical workings. These symbols are representations of things seen and unseen that resemble a desire or wish that the user wishes to evoke.

Belief in the power of these seals goes back to when cavemen painted symbols of a successful hunt for game on a cave wall.  That represents a talisman of sorts and is similar to the seals that are used in magick today.

Seals have been used throughout time and civilization.  The Jewish people place talismans in a case attached to the doorframe of their house which brings luck to the family.  The Pennsylvania Dutch paint Hex signs on barns and depending on the symbols used can be for rain, protection, prosperity, or bringing happiness.

There are white magic seals, black magick seals, elemental seals, seals of Solomon, seals of demons and angels alike.  Whatever magick you are doing, there are probably seals for your magickal working.

You are not limited to the ready made seals like we sell here either.  With a world full of mundane and magickal symbols available to you, you could take parchment and quill with your dragon’s blood ink in hand and fashion your own seals.  With that said, if you are interested in making your own seals, you should check out the class on magickal writing and symbols on May 12th.  You can also purchase the above mentioned book and ready made seals at the store.
