Essiac Tea

Essiac Tea is named after Rene Caisse (spelled backwards is Essiac) who was a nurse in Canada. In 1923 she observed a woman with terminal cancer make a complete recovery with an herbal remedy given to her by an Ojibway Indian Herbalist. Rene visited the medicine man and he gladly shared the tribes’ formula with her. Rene brought this formula back with her and began to treat hundreds and then thousands of patients with incurable disease, free of charge. Many terminal or incurable diseases were found to be helped by the brew. Among them are cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, lupus, chronic fatigue, Alzheimer’s, etc.

Whether or not Essiac tea does cure any of these diseases (or many others not mentioned here) has never been proved one way or the other. The formula was investigated by a university laboratory in Canada with positive results, however, in order to continue her research, she would have to disclose the formula and she was apparently concerned that it would be suppressed or not used properly or economically.

The formula consists of 4 common herbs:

Burdock Root: Immune system strengthener, tonic for the liver, kidneys and lungs and blood purifier, neutralizes poisons and cleanses the lymphatic system.

Sheep Sorrel: Diuretic, blood cleanser, improves liver, intestinal and bowel functions, prevents destruction of red blood cells and used to break down tumors.

Turkey Rhubarb: used as laxative, astringent and purging treatment. Stomach tonic, cleanses the liver and used as anti-tumor.

Slippery Elm: Used for nervous problems, stomach and intestines and contains insulin which helps liver, spleen and pancreas.

These herbs are blended and cooked in a fashion which causes the concoction to have greater curative power than any of the four herbs alone.

Directions for use

Take 2 ounces twice a day, two hours before or after eating. Ideally, take in the morning on an empty stomach and wait two hours before eating, and take at bedtime, two hours after eating. Tea can also be diluted with equal parts of water.

NEVER MICROWAVE

Perhaps Essiac cures cancer, or maybe it was all in the patients minds. I doubt mainstream medicine will ever admit to a simple herbal cure for cancer even if it does exist. All we have are thousands upon thousands of testimonials that the tea works and just as many official warnings that it doesn’t.
